Paige E McDaniel MSN, CNM, WHNP
Indiana ACNM Affiliate President
Mrs. McDaniel, an Illinois naive, moved to Indiana approximately three years ago after accepting a position with HealthNet, Inc. In 2013, Mrs. McDaniel was nominated and accepted the position of President of the Indiana ACNM Affiliate, and looks forward to continuing this work into 2014.
Nursing is a second degree for Mrs. McDaniel. She earned her BSN and MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, in 2004 and 2007 respectfully. Mrs. McDaniel also holds credentials as a Women’s health Care Nurse Practitioner. Currently, she is a doctoral student at the IU School of Nursing with her scholarly project focusing on creating an educational intervention to address the problem of postpartum hemorrhage management by midwives in Liberia, West Africa.
Mrs. McDaniel began her nurse-midwifery career in Saipan, the principal island of the Northern Marianas, a US Territory in the Western Pacific near Guam. She spent two years there gathering invaluable experience and compassion for vulnerable populations. Prior to midwifery, Mrs. McDaniel was a hematology-oncology and bone marrow transplant nurse at Penn’s University Hospital and has pre-nursing work experience in stem cell clinical research at the University of Minnesota. Mrs. McDaniel is also a two-time AmeriCorps Alumni with faith-based volunteer organizations in Minneapolis/St Paul and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
For fun, Mrs. McDaniel enjoys travel, hiking, camping, reading, theater and spoken word performances, craft beer and wine tasting, live music experiences, and spending time with friends and family. She currently resides in Indianapolis with her two loving - albeit demanding - feline companions whom she adopted while living overseas.
Blythe Kinsey MSN, CNM
Indiana ACNM Affiliate Vice President
Mrs. Kinsey is a nurse-midwife employed by the HealthNet Barrington Health & Dental Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing at IUPUI and her graduate degree in nursing at the University of Indianapolis. Mrs. Kinsey is board certified by the American Midwives Certification Board, and holds certifications in neonatal resuscitation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics. She is a member of the Rotary Club where she is a vocational training team member. Mrs. Kinsey grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and is interested in global maternal health and midwifery advancement.
Penny Lane DNP, CNM, IBCLC Indiana ACNM Affiliate Secretary Dr. Lane is a nurse-midwife in private practice, and founder of Believe Midwifery Services, LLCand the Red Raspberry Boutique. Currently the practice has offices in both Indianapolis and Thorntown, extending primary care to women throughout their life cycle and specializing in homebirth and lactation services. Dr. Lane has attended births since 1997, within private homes, birth centers, remote hospitals and large tertiary centers, first as a nurse and since 2007, as a nurse-midwife. Dr. Lane was awarded as an Indiana Nurse of the Year in 2009, and was honored to receive the Nursing Advancement award from the Indiana State Board of Nursing for her efforts in establishing a safe and credible option for home birth. Penny has also received awards from the Indiana Perinatal Network and the State Breastfeeding Coalition.
Dr. Lane is a board member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses in Indianaand a member of the national ACNM section committees for Home Birth, Health Information Technology (HIT), and Full Scope Practice Authority. She is a member of the legislative liaison team for the Indiana State Board of Nursing, and commits a great deal of her time to advocacy efforts for the profession. Penny completed her doctorate in nursing in 2014 with her doctoral project focusing on improving the outcomes of neonates born at home and within the birth center setting. She plans to present her project to the Neonatal Steering Committee in effort to implement change that would work to improve neonatal outcomes, and is currently working to establish a national home birth practice accreditation body. Dr. Lane also holds an undergraduate degree in Maternal & Child Health: Lactation Consulting and is a board certified lactation consultant.
Dr. Lane enjoys homeschooling her children, caring for their dogs, working out and riding motorcycles with her husband. Her time is largely consumed with administrating her private practice, extending clinical care to clients, and working to advocate for nurse-midwives and their consumers. Dr. Lane enjoys writing (read her blog here), herbal medicine, aromatherapy and functional medicine, and has more recently began offering her services as an expert witness. Dr. Lane is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Theology and Bible at Lincoln Christian University, and is currently serving as a board member of the Indiana ACNM Affiliate.
Gail Clark MSN, CNM
Indiana ACNM Affiliate Co-Treasurer
Gail earned her BSN from Valparaiso University and her MSN from the University of Cincinnati. As a nurse-midwifery student, Gail completed her residency training at the Pregnancy Plus Clinic in Anderson and then accepted her first position at the Muncie Women’s Center. Currently, Gail is employed at Bluffton OB-GYN in Bluffton, Indiana where she provides obstetrical care for pregnant women, assists with their births and provides ambulatory GYN care.

Mary Blackburn MSN, CNM
Indiana ACNM Affiliate Health Policy Chair
Mary Blackburn has been a member of the Indiana ACNM chapter/affiliate since 1995 when she began working on the chapter newsletter for a student midwife project. Since that time, she has served as continuing education coordinator, chapter secretary, and chapter chair. Mary assisted in moving us from a chapter to an affiliate. Currently, she is learning more about the legislative process by serving as your legislative liaison.
Mary holds a bachelors of arts and an associates in nursing from Ball State University, and a masters in nursing with certification as a women’s health nurse practitioner from San Jose State University. Barb Winningham was her chief midwife preceptor, for which Mary is very grateful.
Mary has served the medically under-served at HealthNet Community Health Centers in urban Indianapolis, first as a WHNP and then as a CNM. She has been the service director since 2006 of the state’s largest midwifery practice. Mary hopes to continue her interest in holistic care with yoga therapeutics. She is blessed with a thirty-five year partnership with her husband, David, and is the parent of two lovely young women.
